Date: July 3, 2000 (Complete)
Status: Semi-pivate (Raph, Frankie and Mic)
Setting: Slightly outside, then Manor hospital
Summary: Raph writes a letter, Frankie delivers
He sealed the letter - he hadn't really been thinking of writing one (to admit it, he probably wouldn't have remembered Mic's name if it hadn't been such a topic of discussion Above) but he'd been gently prodded by friends that it was the proper thing to do, after all. There was agreement over this point on earth, so he smiled, nodded and agreed to write.
Giving the letter to Frankie, he then bid fond fairwells to the surgeon and his wife, promising he'd do what he could to see them conceive and then heading back up where he truly belonged.
Frankie, once more, made his way across the continent until he came to a manor that was passingly familiar. He sniffed the air and followed the scent of the one he needed to find through the place.
At last he reached the infirmary, sat by the bed and held the letter out with his mouth, his bone tail thwapping against the floor.

Date: 2006-08-08 07:07 pm (UTC)Mictain,
I was hoping you would move on by yourself but was told that this would be the 'right' thing to do and so I shall.
You were very right, long ago, when you said that demons are beyond love. The manor was confusing me but I see clearly now; the things you did were despicable and I doubt you were sorry. Even if you were somewhat, I would be a fool to stay by you.
Though rest assured that as an angel, I would forgive. But that is not nearly the same as returning.
Aside from that, I am a creature of light and should not get involved with something so polluted. I forgot this until returning home; yet I have been pardoned, cleansed, and can say no more than any sufferings you encounter were the result of your own foolishness. You have caused a great deal of hurt. I know that I did too, but I stopped before it was too late and have gone back to where I ought to be.
In short, I suggest you forget me. I'm sure it will not take you too long to do so. I confess, I barely remember you. Paradise is beautiful and does wonders towards healing the mind and soothing the soul. Everything is goodness and light here and I don't know if I shall ever leave it, save to heal those who are in need.
I have been freed, both from that prison of a house and the trap that was your lust, and cannot conceive of looking back. Thus I must bid you are farewell (though I would not say it was 'fond').
Sincerely,
Raphael
Frankie barked and looked up at the demon, scratching slightly at the bed.

"Fucking hypocrite," he grumbled. "Without me you could have never returned to Heaven. If it hadn't been for me you would be in Hell -- and, unlike me, you wouldn't have survived a day there!"
For a moment, he imagined smooth angelic skin under his claws, the pale beauty spoiled by the stains of blood. He imagined tearing and hurting, slashing and cutting, ripping and biting. Then, having got rid of his worst anger, he conjured himself a piece of paper and a pen.
Raphael,
To be honest, I have no idea why I ever was interested in you. Or, rather, I know it all too well. I thought of you as something pure and untouchable, the perfect angel. You were perfect, in my eyes. I would have done anything to you.
Over time, however, I have come to reconsider my views. You are not pure, Raphael, and definitely not untouchable. Nor are you the perfect angel I thought you were. Beautiful, that you are, but not enough so to hold my interest.
Feel welcome to take this as a sign that it truly was lust on my part. You will be wrong. I did love you, Raphael, even after my Fall. However, now I see you for what you truly are. You are pure, because you have been washed with the blood of others. You are untouchable, because you drive away those close enough to touch you. And, if you are beautiful, it is the beauty of the dead, silent, still, and soon to rot away.
Enjoy your time in goodness and light, Raphael -- and remember who gave up his place in Heaven so that you could return there.
No more yours,
Mictain
This letter he gave to Frankie. "Take this to your master," he said quietly. "And do not ever return."

Date: 2006-08-08 07:34 pm (UTC)He really was not in the mood for rewarding dogs. On the other hand, failing to give a reward might affect negatively the dog's motivation to deliver the letter. And he really wanted Raphael to get the letter in question.
Thus, he conjured a cookie, wondering how a skeleton dog would eat it, and threw it at the creature. "There. Now, run off."

Date: 2006-08-08 07:42 pm (UTC)Taking the letter with him, he went back home and waiting for Raphael to visit again. When he did, the angel was preoccupied with talking to Eliza in an animated fashion, apparently bringing her good news of success in his endeavors.
When handed the letter, he smiled vacantly, shrugged, then tossed it into the kitchen fire and went back to celebrating with Eliza and Johannes over the coming birth.
