Date: 2005-08-08 05:33 pm (UTC)After several minutes, she penned a quick letter to one Artemius Jigger, and looked dubiously at the owl that was returning her questioning gaze with one of his own.
"I'm assuming you can deliver two replies, then?" she asked the owl, only feeling a bit foolish.
The owl blinked quickly and Sister Mary felt slightly abashed.
"Well, then, please take this to Mr. Jigger. And let me finish this quick note to Mr. -- er-- Chef Snape, and you can be on your way," she said.
Sister Mary glanced down at her reply to Snape:
Dear Mr. Severus Snape,
I am most satisfied with your application for the position of Chef. Barring anything out of the ordinary from your references, I would be most pleased to offer you this position, effective immediately.
Though I have very little experience with Wizards, I do know one or two Witches -- and very recently, I have learned of a Warlock, as well. Rest assured that here, at Tadfield Manor, we do not discriminate against any type of Being and we ask that you do the same (though personally, I share your feelings about brats).
We can negotiate your salary at a later time. Your position does come with many fringe benefits, including a suite here at the Manor, a rather large herb garden, and a huge kitchen with an attached smaller kitchen that previous chefs have used for experimentation- perhaps a cooking lab of sorts?
Finally, I must ask: Do you have any experience as a Healer? The newest facility to open here at Tadfield Manor is a health spa. It's located in the historic and working hospital wing. I see the spa as primarily for massages and mud baths. However, I'd really like to have a few employees with some kind of health care experience in case of emergencies. It only seems prudent.
Please advise me of your start date, your experiences with the health care industry, and your abilities to cook goat meat.
Yours most sincerely,
Sister Mary Loquacious Hodges
With a small smile, Sister Mary rolled up her letter and tied it to the proffered leg of the owl.
She watched the creature take off into the sky with a feeling a relief. Then she picked up her phone and carefully dialed a number.
"Lord Voldemort?"
...
"This is Sister Mary Loquacious Hodges from Tadfield Manor...."
.....
"Er -- yes, I'm actually calling for a reference about Severus Snape..."

Date: 2005-08-09 06:51 am (UTC)Hmm..., she thought, this Mr. Wednesday seemed like a reasonable sort. Something about him- even just what she could glean from his brief description- made her like him. She had a feeling that this was a man to be trusted.
She smiled broadly, and picked up her new favorite pen (she secretly hoped that Belial wouldn't realize that she'd kept it).
Dear Mr. Wednesday,
Let me be the first to welcome you to Tadfield Manor. The position of Maitre'D is yours for the taking, effective immediately.
We can discuss your salary in person. I can offer generous benefits- good health insurance (we even have an on-site spa and health facility), a wonderful restaurant and bar (which you will be managing), and your own suite of rooms. Every full time employee is entitled to his or her own suite here. Of course, you may use it at your discretion. Some live here - some only use it when they work long hours.
I look forward to meeting you.
yours,
Sister Mary Loquacious Hodges

Date: 2005-08-09 07:04 am (UTC)Abruptly, she sneezed all over the application, smearing some of the words.
"Meta-- a -- top? Meta Tro? Oh well, no matter," she said, as another sneeze hit her.
She held the paper centimeters from her face. "He's listed (gulp) Him as a reference?" she pondered.
"Well, I can't exactly call Him, now can I?" she said dubiously.
Her head was really pounding again. She looked back down at the paper and then through the doors at her bed.
Yes, she really needed some help at the Front Desk. After all, she did have the conference in Philadelphia, PA, this coming weekend. It'd be nice to be able to leave someone in charge.
She sighed loudly, and wrote a quick note of acceptance on the form. She described the benefits -- good insurance, access to the health spa, the bar & restaurant, and a personal suite of rooms. Then she penned a quick request for the angel to begin as soon as was possible.
She slipped the application into her Outbox and wondered if it would "disappear" the way that some of the other correspondence had....
As soon as it was gone, she sauntered into her bedroom and promptly fell asleep, still fully dressed.
