Neutral Omens

Anathema looked up when the door opened and smiled. "Hello, what can I do for you?"

She was sure she hadn't ever met this being.

The Metatron blinked, clutching the pile of books he'd brought along in one arm as best he could. Well, here was a somewhat familiar face... "Hello," he said, smiling. "Sorry we haven't spoke much, ah... Anathema, wasn't it? I'm afraid I... well, haven't been making as much of an effort as I should have, I suppose. Er..." He looked awkward, and recalled what he was after. "Sorry to bother you about this, but... am I on the right floor for the library?" He shifted the books to be slightly more comfortable, and get a better grip. He did hope none of them fell out...

Oh, oh yes she had met him before.

"Oh sorry, I forgot who you were. I didn't see you for too long beforehand. Umm, no sorry, the library is up one floor. You can come in and pu tthe books down for a bit if you want. Maybe Loki will want to sift through them for something he would like to read, since he spends most of his time being bored nowadays."

"Oh, I see." He didn't say much more, feeling it was slightly ridiculous to admitting to not quite tell how high one was. Or perhaps just ridiculous. "Loki's here?" He wasn't entirely certain that he wanted to talk to the Norse deity again, but dropping books off wouldn't take too long, surely. "I think there are a few historical books in here. I don't know whether he would have read them yet, though..." He started to shuffle through the books, realised that in the process some of them were falling, and made an attempt to grab them. Had the pile been smaller, it might have worked; as it was, most of the books ended up on the floor instead. "...ah."

"Oh, here let me help," Ana said, getting down on her hands and knees to help pick up the books that now were scattered on the floor.

"Been doing a bit of reading I see," she said with a small smile as the last of them were put back on the rest of the pile left in the beings hands and she walked over top the door to the room in which Loki was currently in residence of. "In here you will find him. He's not going anywhere for a while...unless he's stubborn again and wants to collapse on everyone."

Anathema wasn't sure if Loki had rread any of the books, but knew Loki wouldn't usually mind a few more being added to his collection.

"Do you want me to tell him he has a visitor?"

"Sorry about that," the Metatron said, checking the pile was unlikely to topple again (for the next little while, at least). Perhaps- no, clearly he shouldn't have tried to take back so many at once.

"Yes. They've been interesting, for the most part." He followed her over, but stopped a little way from the doorway. "Would he be... likely to get excitable, then? I don't think that would be good..." It wasn't that he was worried about himself (or Loki, really), but it would just be easier if nothing happened and nothing had to be fixed.

"Er... I suppose that might take the edge off any reaction, so perhaps that would be best."

With a smile, Anathema opened the door to Loki's room and peeked her head in. "Loki? You have a visitor. Do you want me to invite him in or no?" She didn't say who it was/. Usually Loki was happy enough to have visitors to not much care who it was.

A visitor? But who? If Anathema wasn't saying, it was probably somebody special. Could it be that Odin had returned?

But no, Odin wouldn't want to see hm in the condition he was in. Most likely it was John or War. Or perhaps ...

"Uriel?" he asked hopefully. His sister wasn't visiting as much as he'd like her to. Most likely it was because of her condition, but Loki felt a little neglected anyway.

"No, sorry, it's not Uriel. It's the Metatron I think. Met him recently, when he first arrived. Should I invite him in?"

From:

The Metatron? Whatever could that particular not-god want from him? Loki had thought that the Metatron didn't like him until now, but that they weren't enemies either. Maybe he needed to revise that assumption.

"Sure, let him in." He'd never find out, if he didn't talk to the not-god.

With a nod and a smile, Anathema peeked her head back out of the room and waved the Metatron over. "He said he'll see you."

It was good to see Loki having some company. Even better that he seemed to be seeking it out.

"All right. Thank you." He stepped into the room, and nodded at Loki. "I was passing by," he said by way of explanation. "Thought you might like some of these." He unloaded some of the pile of books onto the table close by the bed.

He'd read some of them already, but at least not as recently as the ones Anathema had brought him. Mostly they were Judeo-Christian as was typical for this place.

"Thanks." Loki wasn't quite sure how to react to the Metatron. This was one seriously weird not-god. Or were most of them like this? Were the ones he'd met so far the exceptions? "So, have you started talking with people after all?"

Well. He hadn't entirely been epecting that, and now that it had been asked, how was he to respond? For one thing, on general principles he hadn't felt particularly inclined to take up Loki's suggestion, nor did he particularly feel like telling the Norse god that. Possibly it was an idea, but it irritated him somewhat.

Still, it would be impolite not to answer. "Not much as yet. Did you have anyone in mind, perhaps?"

Loki regarded him curiously. Maybe he was more than just a puppet after all? not particularly bright, though.

"I'd suggest to talk to several very different people," he said. "To get all the various viewpoints. You've probably heard what the other 'angels' and your believers think, but how about the ones who follow different gods, the atheists, other pantheons, personifications, 'demons'? Here you have the unique chance to talk to a large variety of beings. Make use of it." In fact, he was not so sure the Metatron had even a faint idea what Uriel, or Ezra thought. Probably not even Gabriel.

The Metatron considered this. Perhaps there wasn't some particular agenda here. "I see. Well." He nodded at Loki. "Perhaps we'll talk about this again later." He expected it'd be interesting, if nothing else.
