(Because Crowley asked for threads, but I'm not at my best today ...)

Time: October 21, 2000
Place: Hospital Wing
Status: Public
Summary: Well, nobody told Loki he couldn't leave once he felt better.

He'd slept for several hours and was feeling much stronger now. Or at least Loki thought that he must feel a lot stronger after this much rest. It wasn't worthy of an Asgardian god to lie in bed and whine at people all the time. He should be up and about as long as he still could.

The little bit of weak feeling and sickness he still felt was probably just the pill they'd made him swallow before he'd gone to sleep.

He felt ashamed when he thought of the pathetic scene he'd made in front of John, Anathema and Gabriel. What a worthless weakling! They must be so disgusted by him.

Determined not to be a pathetic weakling any longer Loki rolled out of bed to return to his room. He was better now. He could rest some more in his own bed.

The world tilted like a ship and for a moment everything went black again, but he clung to the bed and slowly the black spots receded to the point where he could orient himself again. Okay, keep leaning on the wall to stay upright and one step, two steps ... Slowly Loki inched towards the door and out into the main room of the hospital wing.

Now, which way was out?

Ambling through the hallway and thinking vaguely that he should maybe perhaps find something to do, Brian was surprised to walk past the open door of the hospital wing and see someone staggering about in there. He looked . . . well, he didn't look well.

"Hey, mister," Brian ventured, "you all right?"

Brian gave a mental groan. He should've known by now that you don't ask people wobbling along the wall whether they were 'all right', especially not 'round here, because a) they would lie, and b) they wouldn't be.

Well, he couldn't just leave now, could he?

"Well, erm . . . c'n I help you?" he asked. "Get to your room, that is. Er." Maybe they'd bump into somebody helpful on the way. Or, if the man collapsed, which was looking increasingly likely, he could probably manage to carry him back to the hospital wing.

"'M Brian." He started to stick his hand out for the man to shake, but thought better of it. "Nice to meet you, er. . . ."

[identity profile] muddy-blues.livejournal.com 2007-01-26 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. That was a new one.

"Er, no," he said, blinking. Then he peered at him warily. "Are you?" He couldn't really be, though. Gods didn't get sick, did they?* He took a half-step back, just in case, because he'd read enough mythology in his life to know that gods could be very tetchy.

_________
*It was a mark of how long he'd been in the manor that he thought this rather than, "Holy hell, the man's delusional."

"Well. I'm human. Friend of Adam's," Brian said. This tended to work. Sometimes, anyway.

"Right." He looked in the direction of the man's vague gesture. "Right." He walked up to him again, stopping by his side in such a way that, should support be wished for, his shoulder could be leaned on without the other man having to ask permission. He wasn't any more stubborn than Pep'd been that one time she broke her leg, anyway.

"Let's go, then?" he suggested.

[identity profile] muddy-blues.livejournal.com 2007-01-27 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, shit. That was not what he'd hoped would happen. Why did people get so scared of Adam? He was just Adam. He'd always just been Adam. Even when people wanted him to be not-Adam, he'd been vehemently and completely Adam. And then you mention his name to a bloke and he goes crazy scared.

"Look, I'm not-- I'm not going to--" What the hell does he think I'm gonna do to him? He's a god! "Just--never mind. I'm just Brian. I'm not--I'm not going to get Adam or anything, he doesn't have to be involved--" Not that he could actually promise that, but the way the man was wobbling was getting really frightening now. "Look, just stand still, would you?"

To say Uriel had been worried had been an understatement. She had been terrified. After all, Loki was one of the very few people she had right now; she couldn't let anything happen to him.

She hoped they would let her see him. She wasn't sure what his current condition was, but she doubted it was anything good. After all, he had collapsed in front of other people. Loki would have never let such a thing happen if he could have helped it at all.

Still, she was quite surprised to reach the right corridor and find Loki there, leaning against a wall, apparently talking with a human. After the momentary shock, she strode forward -- well, attempted to stride. If anyone claimed she was waddling, she would do something very violent. She wasn't quite that big yet, thank you very much.

"Loki!" she exclaimed once she got a bit closer. "What on Earth are you doing? You look like you'll collapse again any minute!"

"Fine? You definitely aren't fine! But I'll believe you," she gave him a stern smile, "as soon as you push yourself off that wall and walk to me without support." She was still at least a dozen feet away. She was fairly certain Loki couldn't manage such a thing.

Brian forced himself not to move and try to catch the man -- Loki, he thought, and ohbuggerfuck -- because when Loki actually focused on him, he looked wild, and Brian was reminded of what his mother had once told him about cornering injured animals. He looked pleadingly at the woman -- apparently a woman, anyway -- hoping for some sort of cue. He wanted to help, really.

Uriel might have been a bit surprised at the "apparently" part of Brian's thinking, especially since she was currently six months pregnant. She did not know what he was thinking, however, and was more concerned with Loki at the moment anyway. He was looking a bit wild.

"Calm down, Loki," she sighed. "It's no good for you to be up yet. You'll only end up hurting and exhausting yourself. Come on, let's get you back to your bed..." Hopefully she wouldn't have to try to get him back to his bed by force. Well, maybe the nice-looking young man would help her if it came to that.

[identity profile] bipolar-uriel.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"You are obviously not fine," Uriel replied. "Don't be stupid, Loki."

[identity profile] muddy-blues.livejournal.com 2007-02-12 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Brian had come to essentially the same conclusion -- the young lady shouldn't be doing anything too strenuous (Brian didn't know much about babies, but he was pretty sure that wrestling with sick gods was not recommended after the sixth month). And Loki had made it quite clear that he did not trust Brian.

He tapped Uriel on the shoulder. "'Scuse me, miss," he said quietly. "Could I have a word?"

Terribly sorry for the lateness... >.< Stupid LJ and the not-working tracking.

[identity profile] bipolar-uriel.livejournal.com 2007-02-23 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Uriel turned to look at the young human. "Yes, of course," she replied. "Oh, and I'm terribly sorry for my brother. He gets rather difficult sometimes."

No worries, not like I've been terribly prompt or anything. *shame*

"I, er." Brian looked sideways at Loki, then said in an undertone to Uriel, "Listen, can I get anybody? I'm just . . . I dun't know how to help with him all nervous of me, dun't know why he is anyway, an' . . ." He trailed off. He was quite a bit out of his depth.
