Setting Hospital wing
Status Complete
Summary Apollo reunites with his little brother. Hermes gets a sort of tongue-lashing.
Apollo arrived in the hospital wing to see his brother shuffling a set of playing cards, over and over. Around his chest, white bandages wound, stained with blue blood. Even at a glance, it was clear that there wasn’t regular staff in the hospital. Apollo felt a hot, sick wave of anger. Hermes was being left alone after hurting himself. Even a college student who’d only had one semester of psychology knew you didn’t leave someone who had hurt themselves that badly alone!
Hermes looked up, and was treated to a mix of joy and terror. On the one hand, there was his brother! On the other…his brother was furious. Hermes swallowed, putting the cards down slowly.
“Um…hi Apollo.”
“I heard what happened.”
Uh-oh, he was quiet-angry. That was the scariest. “I…yes…” Hermes looked down, wringing his hands nervously, his cheeks bright in shame.
Apollo fought down the urge to start yelling, as that would do no good. Instead he took a deep breath and sat on the edge of the bed.
“Don’t you ever, ever do this again, understand me??” his voice was at least quiet, even if it was fierce as Cerberus. Hermes nodded submissively.
“Yes Apollo,” he squeaked.
“Who is taking care of you?”
“Um…me.” Hermes said in a whisper. “But I’m being good!” he protested fearful. “It’s just that the other doctor went away for some reason and—”
“Then I’m going to take care of you. First we’ll change those bandages….”
