Remus nodded, staring at the bright blue sky like it was a giant Pensieve, with a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"It probably was," the werewolf agreed, taking a sip. "Although I can't quite be sure, since I barely saw any of you or James after New Year's. Saw more of Lily and Harry, actually. I suppose that was when- when we didn't trust each other."
Cracking a smile, a proper one, Remus looked over at him. "At any rate, the party was fantastic. I can't believe you even remember that day, Sirius." He held up a hand to forestall any indignant objections. "Not because of your memory, but rather because we were both quite, er, quite far into our cups."
He downed about half of the bottle, then picked up his sandwich and ate that to pace himself. Sirius was damnably accurate - Remus did love Butterbeer. It had been worth the hassle, the owls to old acquaintances (who were somehow always surprised to hear he wasn't dead yet).
