Belial had heard the voices out in the lobby briefly as he passed from one side of the barroom to the other, the muffled sound of normal conversation that echoed slightly in the lobby's hollow openness. Unworried, he had gone about tidying up after himself, catching dust as it stubbornly collected on the counters. Fucking dust.
He stopped abruptly when he heard Beelzebub's voice distinctly, raised, irate. And then Ellie retorted with an edge of violence in her tone. His rag fell to the floor and he moved towards the doorway swift as a flickering shadow, eyes impossibly dark with fear and a touch of anger.
Ellie looked ready to fight, claws out, eyes burning terribly, and Beelzebub was herding her, prodding her with sharp comments. Bullying because he knew she was weaker.
Belial darted between them before either could notice him and pushed back against Ellie, keeping himself between her and Beelzebub. "What do you think you're doing to her, you fuckwit?"
