Ellie wondered whether that meant Crowley couldn't believe He was capable of that level of callousness (surely he knew better?) or if he was simply choosing to disregard a possibility he didn't like. It also occurred to her to ask where Crowley and Aziraphale would be and what they would be doing right now if they had never been attacked, but that line of questioning could be taken to imply a degree of faith or trust in the Plan that she didn't feel, so she didn't.
"Well if you do figure it out, let me know. I wouldn't mind giving whoever was behind it a piece of my mind too. After you're finished with them, of course."
