Tadfield Manor, Sister Mary, private, complete.
Sister Mary was ringing her hands. She blamed it all on the gardener, of course.
Right after she'd hired that nice lovely Ruby, she'd gone to find the gardener. And when she'd found him, she'd really let him have it. Though she could no longer remember why she'd been so mad, she was content to believe that it must have been important.
Then those two poor dears had come in. Agnes had taken over, barking out instructions to both that young blond boy and herself. Even Mr. Alabaster has shown up. Between them, they'd gotten the two Beings somewhat stabilized -- though it'd be a while before either one of them was good for much. She was glad she'd at least had proper rooms set up for them.
Sister Mary herself had felt like total crap after that night. The gardener must have known it. He'd been nothing but kind and gentle when she'd gone to get some mint and aloe on Agnes' orders.
And that night, after Sister Mary had finally retreated from the Hospital Wing, the gardener had shown up at her door. He hadn't said much. He just came in, carrying a nice bottle of old Scotch - "for medicinal purposes," he'd said -- and then ... well, he'd certainly made Sister Mary feel much better about everything.
The only problem was.... well, Sister Mary had actually not emerged from her room for several days -- unbeknownest to her! There were people waiting in the Lobby, new employees working without instructions, and papers backing up on her desk. She shuddered to think about her guests. She could only hope that someone had taken care of them!
Well, her interlude had been just what she'd needed. And perhaps the gardener had known that.
But now she had to get back to work...
