Despite his anger Ligur found himself preening slightly at the compliment. Still, he had made his mind up that any attempt on Hastur’s part to come crawling back, once the fling with Pazuzu, Belphegor or whoever it was this month was over, would be met with aloof contempt. The only trouble with this, of course, being that Ligur wasn’t quite certain what aloof contempt meant.
“Yeah,” he said, attempting to adopt a dismissive expression. “Look dead terrible, don’t I? I was thinking of asking er….” He grasped around in his mind for the name of suitable demon, “asking Dagon, yeah that’s it, if he wanted a bit of help with his filing, if you know what I mean. There, he thought with satisfaction, on seeing the sudden look of drunken horror on Hastur’s face, that’ll make him sorry for dumping me. He did not mention however the fact that he’d been involved in a brief, ill fated rebound flirtation with a minor demon by the name of Nisroch, who’d really just been impressed by the title and hadn’t given a blessing about Ligur’s interests. “Though that with you and me being all broken up and everything I should be looking round for someone else to lurk with.”
“Anyway, what was it what you’ve come ‘ere to say? I’m sure that Pazuzu must be Down There wonderin’ where you are.”
There, he thought to himself with satisfaction, that’ll show him that I’ve not been moping around for the last few weeks, well, ‘cept that I ‘ave, but he dunt know that.
