Another boy with another girl lying on him might have suggested that she help him clear it. But Adam wasn't another boy and he thought Pepper would probably hit him if he tried. Besides, this was supposed to lessen the awkwardness, not increase it, so he grabbed her shoulders and rolled them over so he was on top. This allowed him enough air to proclaim victory. "A-ha!
