"Rougher surface, blunter sides, more friction, you see. No reason why you couldn't make slow skis for kids. It'd probably be a lot easier and cheaper actually."
He stopped to think for a moment. Somewhere he'd gotten side-tracked. He hadn't meant to go on about skis.
"And Bran will be a pretty tough kid with all those influences. You shouldn't spoil that by coddling him."
