He would have liked to reassure her. It was good to be told that he was wanted, was needed, but sometimes it just didn't seem right to lie.
"I'm a Viking. I can't not fight. It's cowardly." He wasn't sure she could even understand what that meant in his culture, nor could he properly explain it. Some things just were, like the sky being blue and Vikings fighting.
