Adam shook his head. "There's no reason why you should know. But most days are like that. It's a lot to keep track of. And I'll share what I can, but people don't want me goin' around and tellin' all their secrets." He smiled faintly at Pepper's indignation and wasn't about to tell her who'd done it. "Couldn't you just hose it down or somethin'?"

Reaching out, he squeezed her knee. "I'm sure you do. It'd be hard to have worse," he teased, but Pepper seemed to have found better balance in more than her physical activities. Adam was glad for that. "And I know you won't. If I can't count on you, who can I?"

He adjusted his position on the bed as she moved nearer and put an arm around her shoulders. "Just us campin' sounds good. I dunno how far I can go, though. In case of emergency..." Adam held up his hands in mock surrender. "Hey! I didn't tell 'em anythin'. They did that all on their own." They had, too, and he was proud of them. Wensley would have thought about it when they were younger but not known how to do it and it never would have crossed Brian's mind. Poor Brian. "I know what's goin' on," he said. Of course he did. But how to tell Pepper? "I think Brian found someone that he likes a whole lot but doesn't think likes him back."
