Setting: Manor Grounds
Status: Public (Complete)
Summary: Loki brings Horus food
Horus, Loki had decided, was the most difficult person he'd ever had to find a gift for. What did you give someone who lived mostly as a bird? Horus didn't wear clothes, or weapons and any other possessions would be more hindrance than help to a hawk.
In the end Loki had decided to fall back on his usual strategy with animals: Feed them.
So he'd snuck into the kitchen while the cook's back was turned, snatched a large plate, several choice pieces of meat and a knife. Armed with those items he returned to where he'd seen Horus the day before and started to cut the meat into nice hawk-sized bits, which he arranged nicely on the plate.
"Horus?" he called out after a few minutes. "Are you home? I've got a present for you."

Date: 2006-05-28 05:55 am (UTC)"Yes, he is beautiful." he agreed. "And you can call me Loki. Not beautiful and not a bird, I'm afraid, but I've got the advantage of being more talkative than our friend here."

Date: 2006-05-29 06:34 am (UTC)"Well, that's true." Luna studied Horus. "Though you'd have to work hard to be less talkative than him." Pondering for a while, Luna tiptoed and whispered into Loki's ear, "Do you think he'll bite if I try to pet him?"

"No," he whispered back mostly because he just loved whispering. It felt so much like plotting! "But it would probably startle him and he'd fly off and then I'd have cut up all that beautiful meat in vain."

Date: 2006-05-30 07:14 am (UTC)"No. We wouldn't want you to have cut up all that beautiful meat in vain." From anyone else it would have been sacarstic, but then Luna did not know the meaning of sarcasm.
"Now what would it take for you to trust me?" she asked Horus. She might, or might not, have expected an answer.

Date: 2006-05-30 03:22 pm (UTC)"I think you'd probably have to turn into a bird, or something. He doesn't trust people easily."

Date: 2006-06-01 05:36 am (UTC)Luna squatted down to look at Horus so that they were eye-to-eye. The black pupil in the golden iris was a little disconcerting though, and she stumbled a little as she tried to stand up again. But that didn't put her off. If anything, she was more determined than ever to find out why Horus felt odd. He didn't seem like an Animagus. What could he be?

Date: 2006-06-01 04:25 pm (UTC)"Maybe you could get another wizard to turn you into one and back." Loki suggested. "You'd have to be very sure they're trustworthy first, though. Maybe not such a good idea. Too much risk of accident." he mused.

Date: 2006-06-06 04:06 am (UTC)Then she studied Loki. "Are you a wizard?"

Date: 2006-06-06 04:15 pm (UTC)"You look tired." A pause. "Are you?"
If Luna had been asked, she would have said, "You feel tired, too." But she hadn't been, so she didn't.

Date: 2006-06-08 04:57 pm (UTC)Her next question made him pause. How much was it wise to admit? Deny too much and people get suspicious, give too much away and they guess the rest.
"A little." he shrugged. "Didn't get enough sleep last night."

Date: 2006-06-08 07:09 pm (UTC)"Well, I'll leave you and Horus to it, I suppose. Got some things I need to calibrate. See you around?"

Date: 2006-07-07 07:14 am (UTC)Several grateful cats, hedgehogs and magpies later he decided to just throw the remaining pieces out for the local wildlife to find and went on to visit the horses. Hopefully this had improved his relationship with Horus, but he wasn't entirely sure. Hawks were difficult to read.

Date: 2006-05-25 09:12 am (UTC)Walking through some low bushes, she came upon a man who had a plate of meat, and the hawk who felt strange. She blinked.
"Hullo."

Date: 2006-05-25 12:03 pm (UTC)This definitely wasn't Adam, though. It was a young woman with beautiful blond hair and a friendly smile. A bit young, perhaps, but just Odin's type. That meant he'd better leave her to hs brother, but then again Loki had never been known for his caution.
"Why hello there, beautiful!" he greeted her happily. "I'm afraid I can't shake your had right now." He held up one bloody hand to illustrate the point. "But I'll be only too happy to make up for it once I'm done here and have had time to wash my hands."

Date: 2006-05-26 05:14 am (UTC)"Is this your hawk? Only I wasn't quite sure what to give him when he showed up at one of the Manor windows, and well I gave him exactly what you're giving him now." This was said with a small smile, but most of Luna's attention was still on the hawk.

Date: 2006-05-26 07:36 am (UTC)He was a little disappointed to find out that his gift wasn't as unique an idea as he had thought. If only he could come up with anything else to do for Horus!
